The Bannerghatta National Park is located 22 kms away from the city of Bengaluru and is a home to substantial variety of flora and fauna. The park was founded in the year 1970 and was soon declared a national park in 1974. The Bannerghatta National Park is spread over an enormous area of 104.27 sq. km. The national park is surrounded by dense forest as well as the scrub land and it also consists of a state-run zoo, where you will be able to enjoy the assured sighting of wild animals including tiger, lion, bison, leopard and wild boar. The Bannerghatta National Park is also considered to be an important corridor for elephants migrating between the eastern and western ghats.
Bannerghatta National Park has various establishments within its boundaries which includes India’s first butterfly park as well. You can also find the Ten Reserve Forests of Bangalore Forest Division’s Anekal Range, a zoo, Children’s Park, an aquarium, Snake Park, Crocodile Farm, a pre-historic Animals’ Park as well as a museum in the national park.
